flynas Launches an Initiative to Plant Digital Trees in Riyadh

Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – December 17, 2024:

flynas, the leading low-cost airline in the world and the best LCC in the Middle East, announced launching an initiative to plant digital trees at Al-Tilal Park in Al-Malqa district and in Al-Rabi' district in Riyadh, where the company headquarters is located, with the contribution of the company's employees and in cooperation with Netzero and the Riyadh Region Municipality represented by the North Riyadh Municipality.

The initiative aims to reduce flynas's carbon footprint and contribute to the development of vegetation cover as part of the company's strategy to adopt initiatives with sustainable impact on the environment and society, in line with the Kingdom's goals to reach net zero emissions by 2060, and United Nations SDG's.

Director General of Corporate Communications and Official Spokesperson at flynas, Waleed Ahmed, explained that the initiative reflects the commitment of flynas, its employees, and executive management to sustainability as a societal and environmental issue and works to encourage employees to donate and contribute to planting trees in residential districts. For every tree planted by an employee, the company undertakes to plant five trees.

"flynas sustainability program is making progress on several tracks, including reducing carbon emissions by participating in voluntary carbon markets to develop vegetation cover globally, entering into strategic partnerships such as the partnership with the Public Investment Fund's Regional Voluntary Carbon Market Company, as well as relying on the world's latest single-aisle aircraft model, the Airbus 320neo, which is more fuel efficient than classic engine aircraft," he stressed.

Alahmed pointed out the advantages of planting digital trees, as the location of the tree, its growth stages, and the extent of its contribution to reducing carbon can be tracked digitally through a digital account for each donor in partnership with Netzero, which connects companies with high-quality, community-driven afforestation projects that capture carbon and uses machine learning to estimate carbon offsets.
